Issue 11

Yesterday we dragged out trainer outside for nice Zwift session. There was a pleasant breeze, nice dappled cloud cover, and low humidity—it was a perfect day for riding outside, apart from the fact that we had responsibilities which were keeping us close to home all day. Setup for the ride took longer than usual since we had to source some longer electrical cords for the Wahoo, the computer, the fan (we always need a fan when on the trainer). We also had to set up a hammock for that little responsibility that was keeping us at home. We were rewarded with an hour or so on our bike and some new roads to explore on Zwift. We add that we’re big fans of the “café-stop” feature on Zwift that allows us to go grab a snack or help out that little responsibility swinging in the hammock.

We love any story that humanizes the pro peloton. For that matter, we enjoy videos, podcasts, and instagram stories as well—as long as we’re getting a chance to see behind the curtain and better understand the fortitude and sacrifice needed to perform at the highest levels of the sport. It makes it easier for us to get out for a ride in a light drizzle if we know that there are folks spending weeks away from friends and family enduring altitude camps and strenuous training rides in all conditions all for the sake of the sport we love. Rouleur Magazine gives us one such article with their article Jay Vine: The Numbers Game.
