We have a growing list of books that we are planning on reading. One or two are sitting on our nightstand. There’s one on our desk. A bunch on our Kindle app. Quite a few are books about bikes, cycling, cycling infrastructure, and famous cyclists. We also have one or two other interests, so there’s the odd non-cycling related book peppering those stacks and lists. Nevertheless, we’re still always delighted when those non-cycling books end up referencing bike culture. As such, we greatly enjoyed the intermingling of the literary and the bike in Feargal McKay’s “Hemingway’s Bicycles” in Podium Café—especially since our early journeys through Hemingway’s canon preceded our love of cycling. After reading this article, we’ll either grab our bike or A Moveable Feast.
Milan-San Remo won’t be starting in Milan and will “only” be 288km. The young American Luke Lamperti is already proving to be a force in the World Tour. Sepp Kuss tells Wielerflits that he could win the Tour de France. The Swiss bike company BMC is seeking out financial assistance. For more on the state of the cycling industry, check out the Escape Collective’s new podcast series: The Feast. And to consider the state of professional cycling, watch this film on the fight against doping. And to celebrate cycling, get this shirt.
