Issue 55: The Spring Classics
A collection of interesting cycling-themed content from across the web
This weekend marks the opening of the Spring Classics season, where racing in Europe begins in earnest. On Saturday we have the men’s and women’s Omloop Het Hieuwsblad. On Sunday we have Kuurne-Brussels-Kuurne for the men and Omloop van het Hageland for the women. Grab a beer and some frites and get ready for those cobbled climbs.

So far, our planning for this weekend has been to figure out a viewing plan (i.e. a VPN + a Belgian network, hopefully), a source for waffles and frites (i.e. some French fries), and what kind of Belgian beer we’ll be enjoying. We’ve also done some reading about the favorites and contenders for the first of the cobbled classics. If you need to get yourself ready for the weekend, head over to Rouleur for their Essential Info on the Opening Weekend.
In the world of cycling drama: Lefevere and Alaphilippe have some tension. Who’s going to take on SD-Worx on the cobbles (and elsewhere?). The Cookie Monster guy is king of Mauna Kea (again). For Friday viewing: take some time to watch last year’s Omloop het Neiuwsblat. Or, take a tour of the climbs of the Flanderien classics with GCN.
