There are five monument races in professional road cycling—for the moment. Will Strade Bianche become the sixth? This year the race organizers have made it longer and more challenging, clearly in an attempt to increase its prestige. Strade is also well loved by cycling fans. What’s not to love? It’s a beautiful race to watch and it has conditions which make for an exciting conclusion. If you’ve never taken the time to enjoy this early-season Italian race, this year should be a good year to tune in. To get yourself prepared for the beauty that is Strade Bianca, read Rouleur’s article, “Strade Bianche: Everything You Need to Know”. (you can decide for yourself if it truly had everything you needed to know).
The One Cycling plan may be in jeopardy already. The UCI has announced new rules for CX World Cup participation. Paris-Nice will also be starting this weekend. As will Tirreno-Adriatico (best trophy in all of cycling, IMO). Book Report: One More Croissant for the Road.
