In a next couple weeks, our local crit racing series will be kicking off. It will not feature any big-name talents or evening roaring crowds, but it will provide accessible and enjoyable racing to a city which would otherwise be well off the beaten path of cycling road races and other such events. According to some, crit racing may be the future of the sport of cycling—at least as far as turning it into a spectator’s sport. The relatively short circuits allow for fans to show up and see the race happen throughout the entirety of the race much like cyclocross.
